You have a place to come to when your are done with the navy, I want you to live in the house I am in. You have a very bright future!!

You have an aunt named Kathy her email is kathygleasonmsu@gmail.com. She would like to hear from you.

Your grandfather must have set a goal of saving $1000 dollars while he was at Korea. That was about 25-30% of his entire pay while serving. You should set a similar goal of about 25-30% saved for your future.

I know that the Navy is telling you what to do 24/7, but some things you need to do when you leave the service. 1.YOU MUST WRITE DOWN ON PAPER your goals for tomorrow, this week, this year and long term or they will not happen. It should be on one piece of paper and you need to carry the list and a pen at all times.(when you can at this time) The list will need to be rewritten every week or two. One goal you might have is to write your mother a hand written one page letter once a week, not a call or email. One page and keep it positive even if things are rough. Short and sweet. Practice writing lists over and over until years from now you will have a list the will set the direction for the rest of your life. Pro tennis and golf players missed the ball the first few times they played, the lists you make will get better with time.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover. Mark Twain

“Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.”

If I’m having a disagreement or argument with someone, I hold my tongue for a while and stop engaging with the conversation. 9 times out of 10 the other party will calm down, apologize, or just have a better understanding of the conflict if you both just simmer down for a bit. As good as it feels to snap back at someone when they’re annoying you, just shut up for a minute and you’ll probably be surprised.“Cultivate your own gardens.” it means concentrate less on what others are doing and more on the standards by which I live my own life.

Sometimes regardless of how good a person you are, how hard you try, and how sincere you feel. There are people who will mistreat and take advantage of you. And more importantly them doing that usually isn’t your fault. It’s more often a product of who they are and wasn’t as personal or important of a choice for them as it will feel for you.
